Years in Business: 2.5 years
What motivated you to start your business?
This is the third business I have founded. Why Blo? It was a great idea and I could execute.
What do you love most about it?
Love the young team. The hair cadets (our clients!).
The so cool interior. Love that we have created such a great brand interface.
What do you like least?
Writing cheques to lawyers. A necessary evil, but never any fun.
What should all women know about your industry?
Why stress about your hair. $31 in about 30 minutes (starting at 7 am) ensures no stress and confidence.
How did having confidence in yourself and your business idea play a role in starting your business?
I am a DOer. I was confident in the vision (so I could engage others) and my work ethic. You cannot inspire others if you are not confident.
What do you do to keep yourself motivated?
Have fun.
What is one really important lesson you’ve learned along the way?
Things will go wrong. Business is messy.
What would you recommend to any women that might be thinking about starting their own business?
Just because you can, it does not mean you should. Always re-evaluate your values and make sure they align with your thoughts. There are a million good ideas. Execute, execute, execute. Love is in the details. So is success.
