Social Confidence – What it is and 5 tips to be socially confident!

Social confidence makes you more attractive and easier to connect with, while allowing you to enjoy the presence of others.
Social anxiety is the fear being judged negatively by other people or being humiliated in front of them.

Social anxiety is the most common anxiety disorder and the third most common mental disorder in the U.S., after depression and alcohol dependence. An estimated 19.2 million Americans have social anxiety.

People with social anxiety or shyness are people who feel uncomfortable or apprehensive in social situations, usually because they simply lack the skills and are unsure about how to relate to people or a social group.

When you feel unsure about what to say or how to act you can experience feelings of discomfort and anxiety which creates shyness.  This is very common, especially when dealing with authority figures, potential partners, and people you have just met.

Avoidance is the worst thing you can do! It will make your social anxiety worse.  The less you interact with people the less comfortable you are in social situations, which in turn can lead to more avoidance.

Getting out there and being willing to try new social situations is the key to overcoming social anxiety.
