Life has been SO boring the past year during the pandemic.
• Are you feeling like you need more fun in your life?
• Does your life feel mundane, full of routines?
• You don’t feel excited anymore?
• Do you wish you were somewhere else and doing something else?
Chances are you answered ‘Yes’ to most of those questions.
But today is the day your life can totally transform! YAY! 😀
As the awesome Richard Branson says: “Fun is one of the most important and underrated ingredients in any successful venture. If you’re not having fun, it’s probably time to call it quits and try something else.”
By fun, I am referring to the feeling of intense enjoyment when you are doing something you like to do. True fun activities are ones that are frivolously joyful, and really make you laugh or smile a big smile! 😀
I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy and to have fun. I have always deeply valued fun and adventure. Ever since I was a little girl. For as long as I can remember, my friends have always said that I was fun to be around, or that I brought the fun, and am frequently asked: “How do you do it? Your life is so fun!” I often think to myself, life is supposed to be fun, why don’t more people create more fun in their lives so that they too can feel more excitement and fulfillment?
After two decades of traveling a lot and trying tons of new hobbies, I know that the biggest reasons why most women are not having enough fun, are bored or unfulfilled is because they are stuck in their comfort zone and they let their fears dictate their lives. That is heartbreaking to see.
Having fun is absolutely essential, yet most people put responsibility, certainty and survival needs first. You may have many priorities in your life, but still, it’s SO essential that you make room for at least some of the activities that you enjoy. Because the truth is, without having fun, how would you survive? If you’re always doing what you have to do, and not what you enjoy doing, you’ll end up unhappy and unfulfilled. I see it all the time. It is very common for people to become depressed when they aren’t having enough joy and fun in their life.
Believe that the more you learn about who you are, what you want out of life, overcome your fears and bust outta your comfort zone, there is a TOTALLY different fun-filled world out there for you to explore! It’s SO AWESOME! 😀 The more fun you start having the better your life will be!
But of course, everything within reason. Having way too much fun, you wouldn’t get anything done, and not enough fun and your life will be unfulfilling and boring. Here’s a quick exercise to help you identify if you need to have more fun:
What level of fun are you having in your life? Think about it right now! On scale of 1 to 10.
• 0 = I’m not having any fun 🙁
• 10 = WOO-HOO, I love my super fun life! 😀
What number did you give yourself? If you are at a 5 or less, you need more fun in your life. Like right NOW!
Here’s my top 5 reasons why it’s important to have more fun:
1) More Fun = Better Relationships
When we’re having fun with other people, we are able to relate to and identify with them more. It’s easier connect. We are more open and vulnerable, approachable and friendly, which helps to build bonds.
Also, having fun and laughing together sends the non-verbal message of “We are similar, we share core values.”
2) More Fun = More Happy Hormones
The more fun you have, the more you improve your mood. Our body releases 4 different “happy hormones”:
serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins that promote positive feelings like pleasure, happiness and love.
3) More Fun = Less Stress
When you get really engrossed in an activity you enjoy, you can experience a state of being known as flow, in which your brain is in a near-meditative state, which has benefits for your body, mind, and soul. Additionally, when you laugh, fewer negative feelings will affect you even when stressful situations happen.
5) More Fun = More Energy
When you’re overstressed do you stop doing the fun things. Oftentimes people will stop because they have less energy than usual and feel that they have to use all of the energy they have left on productive activities. Fun is seen as time-consuming, but that is backwards thinking because having fun gives you more energy than it takes!
4) More Fun = More Likeability
Fun people are contagious and magnetic! People are drawn to other people having fun, they are easier to connect with and are inspiring.
Be the fun that people like to be around, and the one who spreads joy! I personally think it’s awesome to be that person, there’s too much negativity in the world.
I love this video for exactly that reason… this guy rocks!!! 😀
