Solitude is often thought of as a bad thing for a lot of people, but it’s not at all. There are so many awesome benefits of being alone! (Much more than just dancing around naked!!! LOL 😀
Other people can be huge distractions and create a lot of unexpected interruptions.
Do you find it difficult to be happy while living alone? If ‘YES’ then check out my 7 biggest benefits of being alone and put them into practise, and you will absolutely feel more confident and content living alone.
#1) Your Interests Are the #1 Priority
When you are around friends and family you might make their needs more of a priority (most of us women do that!) and maybe your interests and passions get put on the backburner to appease the wants and needs of other people.
But being by yourself, you have the time to focus on your interests make them the #1 priority.
And if you don’t have many, being alone gives you the opportunity to discover what your true interests are –this is an important part of personal development. You become more self-aware.
Being alone gives you the opportunity to make creative choices and focus your attention without worrying about what other people are doing or thinking.
#2) You’ll be WAY More Productive
Without the interruptions and distractions from your friends and family you will have more peace & quiet, more space, more time to think, more time to focus and concentrate and to GET SHIT DONE!
You’ll notice how much more quickly you can get in the zone and on a roll to get things accomplished when you’re focused on yourself and only your list of things to do.
#3) You’ll Get in Touch With Your Own Emotions
Have you ever thought about what you feel throughout your day? And why?
It’s so important for all of us to understand how we feel, and that comes from a being in solitude.
When you’re surrounded by other people, you’re likely thinking about and cater to what their emotions are. Doing that means that you could end up losing touch with your own.
Learning to love being alone, you’ll get more connected to your own emotions. By discovering a deeper understanding of what makes you happy, what makes you sad, what gives you anxiety or creates fear, you are starting your journey to being connected to your authentic self.
#4) You’ll Feel More Independent
Once you enjoy being alone, you’ll feel more confident in your ability to actually be alone –and that creates a feeling of independence.
You’ll won’t feel the sadness, the anxiety, or burning desire for company when you learn to enjoy being alone. You won’t feel the need for constant interaction with other people, or the anxiety associated with looking around and not having someone there to fill the void. You will see that you are OK by yourself, and being independent gives you self-respect and self-love. When my clients get to this place, they truly start to fall in love with themselves!
#5) You’ll Have No Need to Be Looking for Validation
This is a big one for almost all of my Confidence Coaching clients –the need to get the approval, acceptance or validation from friends, family, co-workers, bosses, etc.
Doubting their own capabilities, decision making skills and constantly look to other people for advice on what they “should” do.
When you are alone, instead of looking to other people for an answer, you’ll learn to trust yourself more and make decisions without needing validation.
#6) You’ll Get TONS of Inspired Ideas & Impulses
Learn to meditate, or be still –start TODAY. For just 5 minutes. It will totally change the way you experience being alone.
When you learn to stop your thoughts, you will likely find that you get unexpected flashes of creative insight, brilliant ideas, and impulses/urges to take action…oftentimes they are SOOOO awesome!! You’ll be asking yourself: “Where did that come from?” It’s the classic “A-HA!” moment. It’s frikin amazing when you start to tap into them! 🙂
# 7) You Get to Take Up ALL the Space
Take advantage of the physical and mental space that comes with living alone!
Spend the day learning a new recipe and take up the entire kitchen to cook a delicious meal you can munch on for the next week.
Or dive into a new hobby: create a vision board, make crafts, sewing, puzzling, painting, etc…(there’s so many things to try!) Get all your materials and spread them out across the floor and decide what you want to use for your next project. And if you leave a mess all over the place –who cares?!? NO ONE! HaHa! 😀 Cuz you live alone! YAY!
Or my personal fave –have your own dance party! Find a new playlist or DJ that you love, or put on your favorite music, crank it all the way up and dance your pants off all over your house…I do this ALL THE TIME! :D. IT’S SOOOO MUCH FUN!!!! 🙂 🙂 Dance like no one’s watching, because.. well, guess what –they aren’t! 😀
